[I’m forwarding here – and taking the liberty of also responding to, in passing – a post on WSFDiscuss by Anthony Côte a member of the Quebece student movement’s webtv team, on the massive current mobilisation there and that also gives a link to the unedited live footage of the movement :]

Great to know this, Anthony, and to hear from you and – not that this surprises me in the least – that you are part of what is happening and now also part of the movement’s webtv team ! Congratulations to all of you ! And thanks for underlining the fact of what is happening – among students, and I understand, in Quebec society more generally - as a result of the authoritarianism of the special law 78.

For those seeing this who’d like to get an idea of the reaction in Quebec to this absurd law – a law that is totally symptomatic of the arrogance and authoritarianism that has overtaken the (neo)liberals - check out http://montreal.mediacoop.ca/blog/tim-mcsorley/10987, the website of the Coop Media de Montréal. Where thousands of people are posting their pictures, asking to be arrested for opposing the law.)

            In solidarity –

            Jai

[Am ‘travelling’ / away from my home base, and so having some problems sending my mail from my main eddress jai.sen at cacim.net. I’m therefore using my gmail id to send this. If you’re only replying to me personally however, please do so at this main eddress. Thanks !]

> I'm in quebec right now and the student struggle took recently a whole new dimension with the authoritarianism of the special law. It's now a struggle for preservation of basic human rights as liberty of association, free speech... A new segment of population is joining since law 78's vote : people from working and middle class, primarly barely concerned with student protests but who where very shocked and horrified by liberty restrictions... The movment is growing and diversifiying, even on digital battleground with recent support from the french-speaking guys from Anonymous.
