Residents fear eviction as protests increase

Residents of the Doornbach informal settlement in Table View said on 
Friday, they feared being evicted after violent clashes between police 
and residents on Thursday night.

Residents blockaded Koeberg road with rocks and burning tyres.

Earlier this week, Eyewitness news reported that protests of poor 
service delivery and land demonstrations seemed to have increased in 
recent weeks.

The new national government had only been in power for 11 days but over 
this period there had been violent protests countrywide almost everyday.

In the Western Cape, the fledging Democratic Alliance led Government was 
ushered in by at least five chaotic service delivery and land 
demonstrations in recent days.
