Moodley holds a bash for Zuma
11 May 2009, 06:38
By Jeff Wicks
Durban businessman Roy Moodley, who held a lavish celebration last night
in honour of Jacobs Zuma's inauguration as president at the weekend,
says the ANC president is the "right man for the job".
Moodley, a racehorse and security company owner, was thrust into the
public eye last week after allegedly attempting to bribe an official to
get a better seat at the inauguration. He said last night's party was
expected to continue into the early hours of this morning.
Luxury cars lined the verge of Moodley's palatial estate, while guests
mingled on the terrace inside. An array of finger food had been laid out
next to an open bar stocked with an impressive selection of expensive
whisky.
"The reason behind the party was that Jacob Zuma has struggled for many
years and finally his day has arrived. This is what it's all about. I
was highly impressed with his choice of cabinet and I feel that they
will be good for South Africa's progression.
"As president, Zuma will take action against ministers or any member of
cabinet who is not performing. With him at the helm, I would say we have
the right people on board," Moodley said.
He said that there had been no guest list for last night's function and
that all had been welcome.
"I just relied on word of mouth and anyone was welcome to attend. We are
all here to celebrate Jacob Zuma tonight," Moodley said.
