20 February
Tendai Biti (General Secretary of MDC, Tsvangirai faction), Arthur 
Mutambara (President of MDC, Mutambara faction), Munyaradzi Gwisai is 
(Chair, Zimbabwe Social Forum) on, ‘Youth, Intellectuals and Politics in 
Zimbabwe’. Venue to be announced.

27 February
Andile Mngxitama (Foundation for Human Rights) and others on ‘Who would 
Steve Biko have supported in the upcoming elections?’ Venue to be announced.

6 March
Prof Peter Alexander (CSR, University of Johannesburg) and Prof Edward 
Webster (SWOP, University of the Witwatersrand) on ‘Should unions back 
political parties?’

13 March
Jane Duncan (Freedom of Expression Institute) and Natasha Vally (CSR, 
University of Johannesburg) on ‘Social unrest in South Africa 2004-07 
:new data and new interpretations’.

20 March
Brian Raftopoulos (Research Director, Solidarity Peace Trust) and Dr 
Ashwin Desai (CSR, University of Johannesburg) on the merits and 
demerits of electoral democracy (Title to be confirmed).

Public welcome: All meetings will be held in the Anthropology Seminar 
Room (D-Ring 506) on the Kingsway Campus (former RAU), and will start at 
16.00. Those coming from outside the UJ are advised to enter the campus 
through Gate 2 on Ditton Avenue and to park in Car Park B. It may be 
helpful to show this invitation to the guard on duty.
