Among the bourgeoisie, the state elite and their hangers-on and media outlets.

Where's the alternative left voice with any broad influence saying "good riddance" and "this is our alternative programme"? The official Alliance view currently seems to be that we should have just carried on with Thabo's crew but without their former leader. There's no public questioning at this point of the *political programme* of the past 10 years. It's all about the individual - Mbeki - who abused his powers.

Most ordinary people I come across are filled with uncertainty, or worse, cynical about current politcal events. This is no doubt a somewhat personal view, based on my limited experiences - maybe you've experienced something different? Are you sensing resonance for a clear left political line?

2008/9/24 :
The increasingly panicked calls (and not just from the old
establishment and their hangers-on) for Trevor &Coto stick around,
seem to indicate that there is not at this time an alternative left
vision or project worthy of the name in the Alliance.
