[DEBATE] : It's Trad, Dad

You see, Doug, for one thing the word "tradition" does not quite have
the same cachet down here as it obviously still does even among
"leftists" in the old USA of Yosemite Sam and all the rest of it.
The word "traditional" very often finds itself hitched up to the word
"weapon" around here. If it is hitched to the word "leader" it may
well refer to a blatant warlord, but in any case it invariably means a
feudal extortionist, in Southern Africa.
Perhaps the two items from the great Richard Rooney in Swaziland will
have given some of the flavour.
And, fashion is the flipside of tradition. As Aubrey Matshiqi reminded
us, fashion is the equivalent of signing a petition. So, with you
running after either one or the other, we are not exactly connecting,
across the Atlantic, between SA and the USA. You'll prolly catch up,
though, one of these years.
Yours in struggle,
Domza "My Funny Stalentine", VC
