FINAL UPDATE ON THE WORKERS TURNOUT FOR PROVINCIAL MARCHES
This is the final update on the marches as reported by the provinces.
The union has surveyed three people on the ground at the same time as
the marches unfolded. The first estimates were released at 13:45 pm today.
The following are the final estimates compiled from 15:40 to 16:00 when
most marchers have submitted their memorandums to the employer:
More than 350,000 workers turnout for marches nationally. Majority of
turnout were in Gauteng, Eastern, Mpumalanga, and Western Cape and
Kwa-Zulu Natal and Limpopo and North West:
* Gauteng - Tshwane: Between 70,000 and 100,000
* Western Cape - Cape Town: Between 40,000 and 45, 000
* Mpumalanga - Nelspruit: About 30,000 and 35,000
* KZN - Pietermaritzburg': The estimate is between 30,000 and 40,000.
* Eastern Cape - Bisho, Umtata, Queenstown,and Kokstad: The estimate
is 35,000
* Limpopo - Polokwane. The estimate is 30,000
* Northwest - Mafikeing. The estimate is 35,000
* Free State - QWa-Qwa and Bloemfontein. The estimate in 15,000
* Northern Cape -Kimberly. The estimate is 10,000
