Rhodes University Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) 
invites applications for Postgraduate research scholarships.

The successful candidate will be involved in a research project 
investigating the nature and impact of transgressive modes of social 
activity that involve the appropriation of state-provided urban 
services. The project will examine the prevalence, nature, organisation, 
meanings and causes of 'popular illegalities' in municipal services 
since 2001.

Closing date: 30 March 2007

The successful candidate must be registered at Rhodes University, be 
willing to undertake extensive fieldwork within the research topic, be 
based at ISER and should be available to start work within a reasonably 
short time.
