[DEBATE] : "Indictment" of Jacob Zuma

Something's happening at the moment. It is not very clear what. The TV
news said that an "indictment" had been served at Msholozi's Forest
Town house, in his abvsence, requiring him to appear in court in
August only, on charges of "racketeering", fraud and corruption (but
not tax evasion).

The report said, incorrectly, that the charges had previously been
thrown out "last September". In fact it was September 2006. So it will
have been nearly two years by the time they have another go, if it
does happen, which I strongly doubt.

It is typical "Hollywood".

This is part of the war-dancing by Thabo Mbeki's crowd, in an attempt
to make political space for themselves. It is dangerous brinkmanship.

It also appears defective in terms of process, perhaps deliberatly so.
Since when can you fix a date for a criminal trial without any
preliminary hearing? How could this have been done? Does anybody know
the law about this?
