[DEBATE] : Even Time gets it ... [that Zuma is a stealth candidate]

Sean Jacobs, why are you peddling stuff from Time to South Africans? What's
the point, exactly?

Why does Mbeki's failure et cetera underline how leaders in general have
lost touch? Jacob Zuma ran more of the struggle than TM did. TM was only a
mouthpiece in the struggle; he didn't run anything in those days. It is more
true to say the opposite, i.e. that it underlines how much peoploe who
actually did run the struggle have remained in touch with the masses.

Actually the main manifestation was against the Chairperson, Lekota, who
tried to boss the meeting without the meeting's consent. If you knew the ANC
you would know that this has been a perennial problem in all structures for
a long time. Some among us have been pushing for years against the absurd
kind of arrogance typified by Lekota at the Polokwane conference and will be
eternally grateful to the delegates there for making very clear that in a
democratic set-up, the chairperson can only be a servant, and not a boss.
The recall signal with the circling hands is going to stand us in good
stead, too.

I wonder how many people in the USA "get it": that the Polokwane conference
was not only about Thabo Mbeki or about Jacob Zuma.
