[DEBATE] : (Fwd) Cosatu isn't strong in NEC

My view is that COSATU is COSATU and the ANC is the ANC.
Hajra Omarjee is a good journo but this particular question needs more time.
For example, Fikile "Slovo" Majola is GS of NEHAWU, ex officio COSATU
CEC, and member of the SACP Central Committee.
Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya is President of NEHAWU, ex officio COSATU
CEC, and member of the SACP Central Committee.
Noluthando was elected to the ANC NEC. Slovo was not. Big deal? Why?
Really, does Slovo need to be everywhere? In my opinion there is quite
enough of overlap. Not a bad thing in itself but we don't need more of
it.
Also, please realise that this was an ANC Conference. The people who
got nominated in the first place came through the ranks of the ANC.
The delegates were not necessarily disposed to elect people who were
nominated from the floor of the conference.
The political principle is that these three separate democracies (ANC,
SACP and COSATU) must operate as such or their democracy is not real.
And for the most part, they do so.
Only a pleasure,
Domza, VC
