The Centre for Civil Society invites you to a seminar by Lisa Brown (PhD from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of
Cambridge, UK). The seminar is entitled: "The Joy of Suffering: Neitzsche, Theodicy and Women's Bodies" .

Lisa Brown has a PhD from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Cambridge, UK. For her PhD she carried out one year of ethnographic research into Afro-Brazilian women and soap operas in Northeast Brazil. Before this she worked for two years as a director of a feminist play that toured Mexico and Venezuela. She recently completed a Mellon Research Fellowship in the Gender Studies Programme, UKZN, where she carried out video ethnography on women's lives in one of Durban's townships.
