Dear Friends, 

In 5 weeks the 4th World Water Forum begins in Mexico City.  
Many groups from around the world will be coming to Mexico to  
challenge corporate control of water and promote the right to water. 
   
Events will occur both inside and outside the official World Water 
Forum and will begin a few days earlier than the official WWF 
(official forum dates 16-22). 

This is the first time that the water movement will have a strong 
outside presence during the World Water Forum and hold powerful 
events promoting our vision of the world's water future. 

Attached is a draft chart outlining all the known events taking place 
that week. The chart is just an outline and details of some of the 
events will become more clear in the coming weeks. 

What is clear is, thanks to the wonderful work of our Mexican  
friends, this is proving to be a very exciting and historic event and  
we invite all who can possibly join to do so.   

Are you or is someone you know planning on coming? Are you  
available to speak on a panel or present a workshop? It is  
important that you alert us as soon as possible that you are  
coming to Mexico and begin visa requests. Letters of invitation can  
be provided to help with the visa requirements.   

If you are coming to Mexico to participate and especially if you  
plan to give a workshop or likewise, it is very important to let us  
know by going to -

The main focus for outside international participation will be the 
International Forum in the Defense of Water from March 17-19, but 
other opportunities for presentation inside and outside may also 
exist. 

COMDA is organizing the International Forum in the Defense of  
Water, an open space for water activists. Please do register at  
COMDA's link pasted above and let us know if you're coming and if 
 you're interested in participating in the International Forum.   

As evident by the attached chart, other opportunities for 
presentations inside and outside exist. Other civil society 
organizations are also putting on events that have been listed. We 
encourage support of all events which are in keeping with the 
fundamental values of water justice! 

Please note that the 'Encuentro' on the list is not a civil society  
activist event. It is sponsored by the local Mexico City government  
so we do not endorse this event but put it on for your information.  
We are concerned that some people may experience problems  
getting a visa to Mexico, there has been discrimination against  
some countries. One solution may be to register for 1 day at the  
World Water Forum so that you! can get help from the World  
Water Forum.

register or write visas at worldwaterforum4.org.mx to request visa  
assistance (must be done by February 16th). We are suggesting  
that our allies go inside on the 19th of March for the theme  
sessions on 'Water Supply and Sanitiation for All". This  
encompasses those interested in fighting privatisation and those  
fighting for the right to water.   

For those who need a subsidy to get inside (it is very expensive - 
$100 per day), the Blue Planet Project can provide 30 one-day 
subsidies based on need. Please write to svani at canadians.org to 
request a subsidy, we will reply quickly with confirmation.

Queridos amigos, 


En apenas cinco semanas el IV Foro Mundial del Agua (FMA) se  
llevará 
a cabo en la ciudad de México. Muchas organizaciones de todo el  
mundo 
estarán llegando a este país para enfrentarse al control corporativo  
del 
agua y promover el derecho a este recurso. 


Se están organizando eventos tanto adentro como afuera del FMA  
y 
estos últimos comenzarán unos días previos al calendario oficial 
de 
FMA. 


Esta es la primera vez que el movimiento por el agua tendrá una 
fuerte presencia fuera del FMA y organizará importantes eventos  
que 
promueven nuestra visión sobre el futuro del agua en nuestro  
planeta. 


Adjunto a esta carta se encuentra una tabla preliminar que esboza  
el 
número y tipo de eventos, hasta ahora conocidos, a celebrarse  
durante esa 
se! mana y media (14 al 22 de marzo de 2006). La gráfica es  
solamente un 
resumen y muchos de los eventos ahí mencionados serán  
definidos con más 
claridad en las semanas siguientes. 

 Gracias al fabuloso trabajo de nuestros amigos mexicanos es  
claro 
que esto está probando ser un evento histórico y muy excitante e 
invitamos a todos los que tengan posibilidades de participar para  
que así 
sea. 

¿Están pensando participar o conocen a alguien que lo va a hacer? 
¿Están libres o disponibles para hablar en algún evento o presentar 
algún taller? Es importante que nos lo hagan saber lo más pronto 
posible e inicien los trá! mites relacionados con la solicitud de 
visa. Podemos apoyar con cartas de invitación que les ayuden a 
conseguir la visa. 


Si están yendo a México para participar y especialmente si 
piensan 
organizar un taller o un evento similar, es muy importante que nos  
lo 
hagas conocer registrándote en esta página

La participación internacional se enfocará en el Foro Internacional 
por la Defensa del Agua (FIDA) que se realizará! del 17 al 19 de 
marzo, sin embargo, otras oportunidades de presentación también 
existen. 


COMDA esta organizando este FIDA; un espacio abierto para los 
activistas del agua. Por favor, regístrense en la pagina web arriba 
mencionada y avísennos si están pensando venir y si están  
interesados en 
participar del mismo. 

Como podrán ver, existen muchas oportunidades de 
presentaciones 
adentro y afuera de los eventos oficiales. Otras organizaciones de  
la 
sociedad civil también están planificando eventos que han sido  
listados. 
Los animamos a apoyar todos los eventos que se están realizando 
 buscando 
mantener los valores fundamentales de la justicia en relación al  
agua. 


Por favor, noten que el ¿Encuentro¿ que figura en la tabla adjunta  
no es 
un evento de la sociedad civil. Esta siendo organizado por el  
gobierno 
local de! la ciudad de México y no lo estamos promoviendo pero si  
lo 
mencionamos para su información. 

Ha habido discriminación en contra de algunos países en la  
obtención 
de una visa para ingresar a México y esta! mos preocupados de 
que 
ciertos participantes puedan tener problemas para obtener su visa. 
Una solución sería registrarse por un solo día en el FMA y de esta 
forma obtener ayuda de los organizadores del mismo. Para 
registrarte 
en el FMA visita la página

asistencia en la obtención de visa escribe a 
visas at worldwaterforum4.org.mx antes del 16 de Febrero. 

Sugerimos que nuestros aliados participen dentro del FMA el 19 
de 
marzo en la sesiones del tema ¿Agua y Saneamiento para todos¿. 
Esto 
abarca a todos aquellos interesados en luchar contra la 
privatización y 
todos aquellos peleando por el derecho humano al agua.
