ILRIG´s Fifth Annual Globalisation School
Developing Alternatives to Globalisation
24-29 September 2006; Van Riebeeck High School; Kloof Street;
Tamboerskloof; Cape Town

ABOUT THE SCHOOL
2006 sees the hosting of our fifth globalisation
school. This year´s theme will look at Alternatives to
 Globalisation". ILRIG has been hosting its annual
globalisation school since 2002. Activists from a
wide range of organisations throughout Africa are
invited to apply.

AIMS OF THE SCHOOL
·    Activists from trade unions and social
movements meet to share experiences of struggles
against globalisation.
·    To understand different interpretations of
globalisation and to look at developing alternatives
to globalisation.
·    
THE STRUCTURE OF THE SCHOOL
The school consists of plenary sessions and 3-day
classes. Come and debate inputs by various
speakers and guests and select a course which is
of most interest to your organisation. Classes will
be held on the following topics:
·    Building Women´s Activism today
·    Alternative Trade and Investment strategies
·    New Forms of Organisation
·    Looking at Democracy and new forms of Public Power
    
In addition, particularly for activists who may be
attending the ILRIG Globalisation School for the
first  time, we will be having a class called:
·    Introduction to Globalisation

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The Globalisation School is open to all activists in
South Africa and elsewhere in Africa that have an
interest in developing alternatives to globalisation.
ILRIG would especially encourage activists in trade
unions, social movements and NGOs who can act as
 educators in their organisations to attend. ILRIG is
committed to ensuring that there is a gender balance amongst the 
participants.

HOW TO APPLY
To apply you must fill in the attached form or
contact ILRIG directly.
The registration fee for the school is R200 per
person.
This includes materials, local transport and all
meals. ILRIG will not cover national or international
travel costs.
Applications must be submitted by email, post, fax
or in person. An application must be accompanied
by the R200 registration fee.
Cheques or postal orders are acceptable and you
may contact Ntswaki or Phumeza at ILRIG for our
banking details if you wish to deposit the money into our account.
