From hakima at fahamu.org Mon Jun 9 11:06:53 2008 From: hakima at fahamu.org (Hakima Abbas) Date: Mon Jun 9 11:08:52 2008 Subject: [China-Africa] Report and More.... Message-ID: <8FF35830-A51C-4F89-89DA-8286B0FF2701@fahamu.org> Dear all, Greetings from Fahamu! Thank you for your invaluable participation and contribution to the China in Africa strategy meeting and dialogue. I am writing today to share with you the summary of the strategy meeting (please see attached document: China summary.doc) and the mapping document that was circulated during the meeting. In order for the latter to serve as a repository of information sharing and to become a living mapping of China-Africa, we have uploaded the excel version to google - all of you subscribed to this list have access to view and update the document at: http://tinyurl.com/435vg9 ? Among the follow up activities discussed during the strategy meeting was the need for coordinated advocacy in preparation for the 2009 Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to be held in Egypt. Some of you have already expressed interest in participating in the development of a joint advocacy strategy and policy briefs - I will be in touch very soon to follow up on how we can proceed together. For others who are interested in being involved, please email me directly at hakima@fahamu.org. Further, we will be contacting participants who expressed interest in forming a steering committee to jointly drive the research focus of our organisations. In the meantime, it might be useful to use this listserve as a means of sharing information of common interest etc. Though the listserve is moderated so as to ensure minimal traffic, please do feel free to send any information that you feel would be relevant to all of us.
