Important information on the 9th  Pre-Summit Consultative Meeting on  
Gender Mainstreaming in the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia,  
January 23-24, 2007

Objectives
•	Present and disseminate civil society shadow reports on  
implementation of the solemn Declaration
•	Review reports of the AU member states, identify shortcomings in  
implementation and make recommendations
•	Awareness raising on the solemn Declaration on Gender Equality in  
Africa
•	Reinforce civil society role and commitment in the implementation,  
monitoring and evaluation of the Solemn Declaration
•	Undertake advocacy and mobilize media on gender mainstreaming

25-26 January, 2007:  10th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council
29-30 January, 2007:   8th Ordinary Session of the Conference of the  
African Union
