Dear organizers,

GROOTS Kenya works with over 2000 self help groups in Kenya. Our Mission
Statement is “To facilitate grassroots women and their communities to
effectively participate in development”. We are interested and are happy to
receive this communications and can facilitate our members to participate in
any regional forum. . We are present in Nairobi, Nyeri, and Nanyuki, Tana
River, Kitui, Kendubay, kakamega, Kiambu and Kajiado.

At the World Social Forum we will be facilitating several activities with
other international partners. We by now have two concrete events in the
pipeline are

1.	“ Turning HIV Aids pandemic to a development opportunity  -
Democratizing decisions and resources on HIV Aid, making visible and
celebrating unaccounted work of home based care givers
2.	“Is the Other Possible World, My World “- A young women view of
Another World is possible.

We are working on details and anyone interested to join us is welcome,

Minutes of meeting with CKSF (Maina Mugo , David  Ngige and Alvin Mosioma
and Njuguna Mutahi (Absent):On Wedneday 4th Oct 2006 AT KSF:NAIROBI

And Follow-up Deliberations by CKSF Team  in Nyeri.

Among the key issues of concern were that the :

Venue to be included in the budget : and to include

*     Venue –Hall & Park

*     Chairs and tables 

*     Ushers+ security (watchmen -day and night )

*     TENTS for the  Key Thematic Areas as per our Work-plan -submitted!

Documentation: 

*     What is the objective of CKSF? 

*     Program

*     Final draft Recommendations – Resolution of CKSF to take to WSF?

*     Are the Central Province  people just mere  joy riders to the WSF next
year? If nothing is documented and taken forth to WSF.

Urgency : demand immediate releases of funds

*     No funds have been released for mobilization of all 7 district and
Laikipia .

*     CKSF is not all inclusive as all the  representation of the districts
haven’t been mobilized 2 wks to the event.

*     We are  all wondering why its being called Central Kenya and not Nyeri
Social Forum or Nairobi Social Forum in  Nyeri?

*     The P.C , DC , CID, OCS are all waiting for more information on the
Central Kenya Forum as it is involving the public on a National Holiday .
However We can not confirm without commitment from Nairobi to release the
funds.

*     We are further wondering the rationale in delaying – crippling the
ground organizers and mobilizes in the grassroots in central Kenya by the
Nairobi secretariat ,  by not moving fast enough?? 

 Hopefully By Monday  October 9th 2006, all should be set!! With funds to
move on with the preparations! Over to the Secretariat KSF!!!!

Prof Ed. Oyugi told us to include our transport expenses, local
organization, coordination expenses, communication “ prior to event
expenses” in the budget we however did so, but it has not  been reflected by
the secretariat  in the now  crippled budget?

We are   a solid- cohesive  and serious committee Ready, Wiling and Able to
make CKSF a success Oct 19,20,21.

The Central Kenya committee sat and deliberated on all these issues on  Oct
5th Thursday 9-12 am and Oct 6th ,Friday 10-1: 00 pm , members are drawn
from various organizations in the Region. .
